The LÉONOR has been actively involved in a policy of environmental and social responsibility since its creation.
Our 80 employees are committed on a daily basis, with a common vision: “to take care of the planet and perpetuate our tomorrow”, by applying the hotel’s various eco-responsible commitments.

Energy management
As our objective is to reduce our energy consumption as much as possible, we have equipped the hotel with intelligent systems:
- A “KNX” home automation system for centralised control of the electrical installations, where each light bulb can be controlled individually with dimmers, timers, and brightness index.
- A centralised “GTC – GTB” management system for the heating, air-conditioning and ventilation installations, allowing remote management of the system by controlling the consumption of flows by area and by room.
Our establishment is heated and air-conditioned thanks to 3 of the latest generation geothermal heat pumps at the cutting edge of performance. We have equipped our lighting with energy-saving LED bulbs. We are optimizing our IT equipment and adopting environmentally friendly digital practices.
Finally, we have set up energy consumption monitoring tables to track our energy consumption in order to reduce it and reduce our carbon footprint.
Waste management
The LÉONOR makes it a point of honour to encourage the use of products that can be reused and recycled, while reducing packaging and waste to a minimum. To this end, we have provided our employees with water bottles and a water fountain.
In the rooms, we use Vegan hospitality products from the French brand Codage. Our duvets are made of natural fibres, the cleaning of the rooms is carried out with ecological or eco-labelled products and the use of a complete ecological dry steam cleaning solution; Vapodil.
We fight against food waste by offering doggy bags. Our bio-waste is collected and recycled by our service provider Véolia. Our other waste is sorted to be more easily recycled.
Water management
In order to preserve this precious resource for future generations, we are vigilant about water consumption. We have installed water saving devices on all the taps and showers in the hotel, as well as volumetric flushes in our toilets.
We also educate our guests on the importance of minimizing linen changes through displays, with the aim of minimizing our water consumption.
Every little action counts and we are proud to contribute to the preservation of this vital resource.
Heritage
The LÉONOR is a place full of history and emblematic of the city of Strasbourg. This remarkable building has undergone a beautiful renovation which was completed in 2021. This was done in compliance with the various environmental regulations to limit the energy needs of our hotel thanks to a bioclimatic design.
This renovation is a showcase of French savoir-faire, supervised by the DTACC architectural agency and designed by Jean-Philippe NUEL.
The LÉONOR hotel has a majestic 19th century façade that is listed as a historical monument. Behind this, is a renovated 500 m² courtyard where Vosges sandstone is given pride of place and a second listed 18th century façade.
Sustainable and local purchases
At LÉONOR we support short circuits by working closely with local producers. As much as possible, we use the products in their entirety and we foster seasonal and organic fruit and vegetables.
For breakfast, we serve bread, brioches and other delicacies from the Vince & Steph bakery in Ingwiller, accompanied by Nicole’s homemade jams from Châtenois and tasty honeys from Alain Reithler, a beekeeper in Steige. We offer coffee roasted by the Alsatian company Reck, specialised in high quality coffees.
From lunch to dinner, our chefs sublimate the riches of the Alsatian soil and local producers such as the Diemer farm in Kolbsheim, the Christine Spiesser butcher’s shop in Holtzheim or the Moulin Kircher in Ebersheim.
We are also proud to highlight the best Alsatian wine cellars, such as the Boeckel cellar in Mittelbergheim, to help you discover the best wines of the region. And for beer lovers, you can taste the local beers of the Mogwaï brewery in Mundolsheim or the Storig micro-brewery in Schiltigheim.
Teams and clients
Our teams are committed to environmental protection and sustainable development. Therefore, they have been trained in eco-gestures and eco-responsible digital practices.
As LÉONOR is located in the heart of Strasbourg, we encourage our employees to use bicycles and public transport for their daily trips. We have put a bicycle room at their disposal and at the disposal of our guests.
We also want to involve our customers in our approach by encouraging them to adopt simple gestures to protect our planet. Our teams propose several alternatives to limit car travel, such as bicycle hire or the use of public transport.
